Buckeye Schools Volunteers
From PTO to PRIDE, Strategic Planning Committees, classroom parents, literacy volunteers, parent coaches and field trip chaperones, there are so many ways to be involved in the schools. Click here to contact the Buckeye Schools . . . you’ll make a difference! Note: a background check is required. Contact the schools to learn more.
Because Litchfield Township is in a more rural setting, 4-H is especially popular. There are two groups for kids ages 5 to 19 close by:
-
4-H Litchfield Friendly Workers | Sandy Turner | 330.725.4788 | Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at Litchfield Town Hall
-
4-H Litchfield Leprechauns | Holly Stout | 330.421.9027
Click here for the OSU Extension’s webpage about 4-H in our area.
Don’t forget: there’s always a need for adult 4-H volunteers, too!
Litchfield Ballpark Sponsors and Volunteers
The Litchfield Ballpark is run by a board of volunteers that organize baseball and softball for the youth of Litchfield and the Buckeye School District, ranging in age from 3 to 19.
The Ballpark is located south of the Litchfield Circle on State Route 83. The games are scheduled from May through July 1. Stop by and enjoy an evening watching our youth play ball . . . and bring your cheering voice!
Local companies graciously donate sponsorship money for our teams, and the vinyl signs on the fences are a great fundraiser. New sponsors are always welcome, and we need lots of volunteers to help with field maintenance, building upkeep, weed trimming, garbage detail and the concession stand.
If you have a child who wants to play ball or if you are interested in doing something that’s both rewarding and truly appreciated, call Dusty Metter at 330.461.6689. For registration information visit our website by clicking here.
Litchfield Community Scholarship Committee
Since 1972, the Litchfield Scholarship Committee has awarded approximately 146 scholarships totaling more than $90,000 to local students, thanks to the generosity of Litchfield Township residents and various fundraising events. The Litchfield Scholarship Fund was established in August 1971 to encourage the Litchfield seniors of Buckeye High School to seek further education.

Medina County District Library Volunteers
MCDL has seven local library branches, including its Outreach Services and Bookmobile. There are several ways members of any age can make a difference at the library:
-
Teens in sixth grade and up can earn volunteering hours by volunteering in the summer and during the school year by helping at special events, lending a hand to prepare for programs and projects, creating crafts for community organizations and sharing their special skills like photography and art.
-
Friends of the Library help with regular book sales and fundraiser events, and then the money helps fund the Summer Reading Program, Writers Live, branch signature events and special library needs.
-
Book Mates are volunteers who deliver library materials and friendship monthly to local members who may be homebound. It’s more than a delivery service; it’s a special way to touch the lives of others with a visit.
Youth League Player, Coach and/or Sponsor
Youth leagues include baseball and softball, soccer, and football and cheerleading.
In addition, the Buckeye Schools offer a wide range of sports beginning in junior high. You can also contact the schools directly at this site or by calling 330.722.8257.

Don’t forget: for every sport, there are plenty of opportunities for adults to get involved, from business sponsorships to parent support and booster clubs.
